Developmental editing

I work with authors to develop their writing, and to support them with meeting the requirements of a brief. I check an author’s work against the objectives of a syllabus, and ensure that activities and questions are appropriate and achievable for the intended age group.

Consultancy

I carry out detailed competitor reviews, advise on market positioning, and suggest improvements to pedagogical approaches.

Copyediting/subediting

I review copy to ensure there are no grammatical or punctuation errors, and to fix typos. I check work for inaccuracies and inconsistencies, and ensure that the copy aligns with a publisher’s house style and tone of voice.

Commissioning

I carry out market research through interviews, surveys, and focus groups to find out what teachers and students want from their resources. I commission multi-component series and develop author briefs that answer the needs of educators. I write business cases to secure investment for new projects.

Writing

I write teaching ideas, pedagogical features, and subject-specific definitions for glossaries.

Proofreading

I give the final polish to a piece of work, by fixing minor grammatical and punctuation errors. I check the layout and design of proofs, ensuring consistency throughout a resource.
